Dear fellow artists,

I am considering buying another workstation (HP Z820 2x Intel Xeon Octa Core 2.40 GHz (E5-2665), 32 GB, 180 GB SSD, NVIDIA Quadro K5000), just for distributed rendering, rendering buckets.

As I am not much of a technical guy I am kindly asking for some help here :)

Do I really need good graphics and a lot od RAM, or are there just as many processors as possible needed, to render a lot of buckets at the same time ???

I use Rhino and VFR 2 on an HP WS, Intel Xeon CPU E5-1650 v3, 3,5 GHz, 16GB, 64 bit, K4200.

*50*

Thx, Rolka

Hello, You don't actually need ANY GPU on nodes. You will only run Spawner tool (swarm tool in  VfR 3+). But I recommend to get 64GB RAM, as VfR's spawner tools is not safe (in terms of overflooding RAM and stability) with lower RAM configs.

So what you need is a lot of CPU cores and lot of RAM. Our Main node has 128GB RAM and other nodes have 64GB RAM each.
