Description

Aesculus hippocastanum - Horse Chestnut was scanned from a real-world object (that's where the trunk comes from). Branches and leaves were hand modeled.

Files included:

- 3dm file format (Rhinoceros 5) + V-Ray 2.0 materials

- V-Ray Proxy object

- All  necessary textures

- General FBX exported from Rhinoceros

Real world size: Approximately 6,4 m

Model is moderately heavy, so it is highly recommended to turn the tree into a Proxy and then make it a Block for significant performance boost. For this purpose, we included such scene ready for Rhino and V-Ray.

Foliage from under the tree (see the previews) is not included, we used FlyingArchitecture Plants Kit vol. 1 to populate the area around the model.

Hello - normally i just import all proxies (trees and furniture and cars) in my architectural models WITHOUT turning them to blocks. What is the reason to turn them to blocks after ? Thanks again for your time !!!
Hello, the reason is to optimize the scene even further. We did some tests and if you turn proxies to blocks first and then distribute them (scattering, for example), the scene is much lighter and easier to load to VFB. Therefore, it's faster.

Hey All,

Just a quick question. When I load the tree into a site model it comes in without the textures. It does seem to be linking back to the proper folder in my materials drive. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your time !
Hello, I suppose You copied the proxy object in a block only. There's a specific V-Ray related bug, that causes this. To avoid this, You need to copy both proxy in a block AND proxy itself to the new scene. (proxies in blocks do not transfer materials currently). This works for us. Let me know if You have any other issue.

You supposed correctly. Copied over the proxy outside of a block and the materials did indeed transfer over. Thank you for the quick response.
I'm happy to help!
