Marcel Breuer was a Bauhaus apprentice in 1925 when he conceived this first tubular steel chair, originally Model B3 chair, inspired by a bicycle frame. First manufactured in the late 1920s by Thonet, the German-Austrian furniture manufacturer most known for its bent-wood chair designs
